Present Continuous

Basic Logic

  • When we talk of right now, at the moment, currently, nowadays, now

  • When we talk of future plans that have been arranged

Form

am/are/is + Ving

'm not/aren't/isn't + Ving

Now, Automate

And, Develop Fluency

Find all the speaking activities and projects you need to develop fluency

Are you talking to Joe?

No. I'm talking to Alice.

We're going to the cinema this evening. She's picking me up at 6.

Stative Verbs

Basic Logic

  • When we use verbs that are black or white, yes or no, on or off, we do not usually use continuous tenses

  • Sometimes continuous is possible to stress the action at the moment

Examples

  • want

  • understand

  • be

  • know

  • think (an opinion)

  • (dis)agree

  • believe
